On May 10th a large Bright salmon - 41 in. long 24 in. girth was caught in the Restigouche just up from its confluence with the Matapedia.

Yesterday a 27 lb bright was caught in the Causapscal.

As expected looks like an early year but with water levels at or near 20 year minimums for this time of year and no rain in the 14 day forecast I am getting concerned.

With water temps higher than usual for this time of year there should be some epic battles when a huge fresh fish is hooked in ideal fighting temperatur water.

Hi everyone,

Take a look at the graphs provided by Saumon Quebec (link provided). I am curious if anyone is taking temperature measurements in any of the rivers. Most Rivers on the Gaspe peninsula are well below normal water levels due to the mild winter. I for one am hopefull that significant rainfall occurs during June, otherwise, the fish and the fishing for them may be in jeopardy later this summer. :frown:

Anyone have an opinion?

The fourteen day forecast for Carleton, QC predicts normal to lower than normal temps and periods of rain. If the predictions are correct, that should help a bit.

I will not be going to QC this year, but will be going to the Miramichi, as I do every July. Low water has been an issue there as well, but the river has received a good amount of rain the last two days and, the next two weeks are predicted to be moderately wet as well.

I am keeping my fingers crossed.
