On the topic of being able to mess up a good thing, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is doing a great job putting a single source of information for conscientious and healthful practices concerning one of my favorite things to enjoy on the plate... seafood:

On the surface this site would seem like a good idea, but as you dig deeper into it it's flaws become apparent. Two notable ones I discovered quickly were: (1) in the section devoted to the Atlantic Cod fishery, they not only list Pacific Cod as a "recipe alternative" to Atlantic Cod, but they also list STRIPED BASS:mad: , (2) in the section devoted to Haddock, they list "hook and line" caught haddock as a "good alternative" to haddock caught by a trawler- now how many supermarkets and restaurants do you know that can actually tell their customers HOW the haddock they sell was CAUGHT??? Unless you get all your haddock at a fisherman's market (ie "right off the boat"), keeping up with this kind of recommendation is nearly impossible.
Well intentioned perhaps, but not very practical.
