Black Buc Bug with green butt or Green Machine. I love to catch fish on more traditionally tied fliess, but the Buc Bugs really do the job day in and day out.

For me, in early June in Gaspe, a Picasse tied in my own style has been the killer fly.

Hi everyone... Sounds like everyone is getting itchy to wet a line!
My fly would have to be a undertaker or black ghost!
What is your go to fly Brett?
keep em alive...

I almost always start with a green body blackwing stonefly - June 1 or August. Early on an Old Road streamer ( made for me by my friend Pierre S) has given me lots of action as well ( slim profile a bit like a Herb Johnson)

A Tiger Ghost single hook is always a good bet on Gaspe rivers.

Gaspe13,

I have been unable to find a recipe for the Tiger Ghost, although I have found one for a Tiger Ghost Variant. If you get a chance, would you please post a recipe for the Tiger Ghost.

Thanks,

CK

I usually tie them with the ingredients below. I dont know if they are exact, but its what I use. I also tie them with silver and flourescent green bodies.

Hook - Salmon eye up or can be 3x or 4x long Streamer hook for larger sizes.
Body - Black and white rod wrapping mixed....or floss duplicate.
Butts - Small Green butt trailing a small orange butt (undertaker style)
Ribbing of fine oval Silver
Black hair over yellow hair (sparce), slightly extended past bend of hook
dark soft long hen hackle throat (Very Sparce)
Silver Pheasant Cheeks
Jungle Cock (optional)
Black Head

That's how I tie them although I do vary the bodies and the colors.

The pattern that I find most effective is also a variant. I`ll get a picture and pattern listing put up shortly.

Salar36/Smolt,

I couldn`t get my camera to take a close up shot that wasn`t blurry beyond recognition. Professional photog I am not :-) .

The one that Salar36 posted is the type I find most effective in the Gaspe, although I haven used some tied with and orange and green butt that were also effective.

Looks like Brett has the Go To Fly.

http://www.quebecsporting.com/Photos/b_lewis.JPG
York River - Brett Lewis: Open waters yesterday.

Update:

We are seeing fish on all 3 rivers
Fishing up to Sector 9 on the York.
The St-Jean fish up to Big Indian Pool.
Dartmouth Sector 2 is also holding many fish..

We landed fish on all three rivers yesterday.

43 names in the 48hr draw today,
and only 11 anglers on Open York.
Conditions are excellent...!!
