Well another year under the wading belt (almost)...

What's the most valuable revelation you've had this season? I'm sure the collective psyche would benefit if you'd be kind enough to share your discoveries.

At 72 it took me longer to do what I did at 71 but at 73 I will do it smarter!

Not to drive 300+ miles from Mount Vernon, WA to Orofino, ID to fish the Clearwater for 3 days and then use 8# tippet. The first day fishing, I hooked a "B" run steelhead and promptly broke the fish off when I set up on it. It was the only fish who grabbed a fly on the trip and I learned to not use 8# tippet when there is a very real chance of hooking a fish in the mid-teens.

fishing for steelhead is just like fishing for atlantic salmon,and just as uncanny.
