Have started fly fishing last year in Hong Kong. My progress was slow as there was no resource here for fly fishing so I had to learn everything online.

I fished this Indo-Pacific Tarpon at the incoming tide to the canal where I could see their fins at the surface swimming in. Only able to landed two, others were lost when they jumped out of water. They are small, but for a newbie like me, I'm satisfied

Thank you for the advice I've got here. Now I can enjoy fly fishing after a year of frustration. .haha..

Nice fish, and welcome.

Hope you catch lots more. Are there any larger tarpon in the vicinity?

Cheers,

Eric

Glad the site could help!

I did a google search and found that species reaches 1.5 meters which is a great size on a fly IMHO.

Thanks

the largest caught in the canal is only around 60cm.
There are catfish over 1.8m in the same area but havent not found a proper fly for them.
