Here's a juvenile bald eagle that resides near a local lake:

There were two of them until one got a nylon fish stringer tangled on its leg and got tethered to a tree. It took a few hours for someone to get to it and cut it loose, then it crashed into a house and hit the ground. It died later from its injuries. The paper said the bird was in poor physical condition and the stringer had been on its leg for several days before it got tangled in the tree. Too bad. What a magnificent bird. This one flew directly over me no more than 20' up and it was huge. Wingspan was easily 6'.

Quentin, thanks for the commentary and photo. One might assume that the eaglet caught in the stringer was in fact trying to capture a fish therein. Maginficant birds and a testimonial to our determination to bring bnack endangered species.

I only wish that we had the fortitude to address the decline in ocean species that we have with the bald eagle.

Hi Q,

I didn't realize that there were any Eagles in the old neighborhood. Thanks for the pic.
