: Could it be??? A non-fishing weekend???

Maybe the only weekend since May w/o some time on the water but...

My wife is ill, the kids need shuttle services and I've been out of town so I think I'll hang around to help out tomorrow; play taxi-dad and cook dinner, etc.

Nick, Bigcat - good luck at big girl in the AM... I think the cows will come in for a sand eel power snack for the run down the coast. I will leave messages on the cell phones in the early morning so you don't wait for me. Bigcat - I will get the table from you later. Hope it came in handy at RhodyFest.

They're talking snowy / rain and a major cold front on Sunday. Tomorrow would be the day, warm trends all week, migrating fish poking into warm estuaries and grabbing some protein for the road. Mean zero lows at 8:45-ish and plenty of shoal to work the channels from on both sides of the cape.

I still think the south shore is on route for pogies and the linesider escort.

Most I could do would be an early morning shot, but I'd have to be back before the kids daily routine started around 10am - maybe I'll go fish for trout at Whites for a couple of hours. Cape's out, the North Shore's not much closer for me, and I am reaching the "feeling guilty" time of the season.

I'll save my brownie points for the grand finale down at the John Morin's next weekend, maybe a run out to Nauset as well before I wash out the years last salt from the reels.

Best of luck to everyone who gets out this weekend! Al - hope you have a greenback tale to tell.

Man, what a year it has been. Like Terry says, just don't want to see it end. But with all we've learned and experienced, can you imagine what next year will be like? Aye CARUMBA!

Well, if you had to miss a weekend, this is not a bad one to miss. It's Blowin' like a Mothah, I just chased down my grill cover.

I'm also open next weekend. My wife is out of town, so I'll have to get someone to take care of the dog. My top priority is to trailer the boat home, so I will be in Bourne. Juro & JohnM, maybe I'll meet up with you guys.

I found Bigcat right were you said I would, at the very tip of that bar. He had been working the bar for a little while when we got there. We fished it until the wind kicked the surf up enough to make us worry. We headed back inside to the rock pile and proceeded out on some finger bars that had developed. The wind was howling by the time we left. I managed to catch my first keeper bass off the rock pile. It was around 30-31" after measuring my rod at home. I figured I would let it go in attempt to appease the fishing gods for next season as much as I was dreaming of a feast tonight. Thanks for your direction this season. It's been tremendous.

Bigcat, thanks again for your help this morning. I would love to fish again with you next season.

No greenback tales here. Weather cancellation with Ray plus the same guilt Juro mentioned had me doing the Maine trek. Saw some very dead looking water up and down the Maine coast. I hope to make an outing one night this week to see if this storm pushed the twinkies out of Bourne.....

Nick, glad you scored! Was she good? ;)

Juro: You didn't fish this weekend? Wimp- You're just not hardcore I guess" border="0" align="middle">
Couldn't resist another trip to Deveroux to see the bait. I had my son Nealon with me in hopes of getting him a new species-MAC. Tons of bait, tons of gulls, no joy for us.
The wind-gusting to 40 I estimate. I think that's it. I ain't doing the deep clean on the reels yet. <img src="

Looking like a Chatham Angling Society Meeting next weekend; Scotch Clave at the Big Girl or a Harding's morning ebb *the* final fling for 2000 as far as I can see. On to some big plans for web site rework over the winter.

Tides: they suck
Weather: will probably suck

I don't care, the phenomenal season deserves a fitting end.

Hope we can meet up face to face again before the tying clave, the indoor casting clave, annual fly swap, fly shows and other winter time activities.

Juro, sounds good... I will need to confirm with you by Tuesday... I will be down Thusday evening and staying though to Saturday. May even stay Sat. night... so we will talk.. At night we can even walk down to Ridgevale beach, an extension of Hardings, and try there. Ridgevale is 4/10th's from the cottage by the streets. No need to help close up since the plumber does it for me and you have to have the town there to shut off the water.. so it has to be when they want.. so I need them to work with the plumber.. what a racket. Roop may come down for one last and he may also stay. Should I take out the Barry Swisher and Joe Humphreys videos?
