Chief for life Admiral Sean Juan has authorized the procurement of a new vessel for the forum Navy.

New Vessel is yet to be named and will be skippered by self proclaimed Commodore W.T.(wrong way) Jones. New craft is headed for final outfitting with sea trials to begin as soon as rigging is complete. Admiral Juan will commission her during the Spring Clave

Cool - nice looking lines on her!

But I have to ask, is that welding gear I see in the foreground :Eyecrazy:

Adrian it is actually cutting gear. I was in the middle of scrapping the junk pile out back when the call came in to come get her. Price of scrap is up & I need Mad Money to go fishing :)

Ah, o.k. - I was trying to figure out what "customizations" you had in mind that required oxy-acetylene :hihi:

Lets hope for a 'yak friendly' clave week-end ... I have a couple of ideas ....

Is the forum Navy taking any new recruits? I'm about to pull the trigger on a Hobie Revolution.

Quick question to Navy veterans. I notice most of you use kayaks with high vis colors. Hobie lists moss and ivory as their fishing colors. Can I assume that safety e.g. Yellow, Red colors outweighs stealthy colors when fishing for stripers?

ps - I was planning to get a orange dry top in addition for safety.

Hi viz colors are o.k. but as kayakers are so close to the waterline, they are almost invisible to most power boaters until its almost too late.

A hi-vz PFD is a good idea.

I picked up one of these for my yak after seeing how effective they were out on J'Bay a couple of years back:

Just google "Kayak safety flag" - they are readilly available.
