Took the boat out for the first trips of the season this weekend. Gotta love shorts & t-shirt weather in mid-April :D . It was great to be out again and I even caught a few fish. Nothing spectacular but did add a few species to the list for this year. I spent some time, maybe too much, getting frustrated by some huge carp that were more interested in chasing each other around and mucking up the water than eating my fly. While watching for carp I saw a nice pike chase down an unfortunate bluegill or crappie, which skipped out of the water a couple of times and got my attention just in time for me to see the pike arc out of the water and charge the bait :whoa: . It was within casting range and I made several casts but I think it probably caught its lunch and wasn't interested in my offering. Best fish of the weekend was this chunky little largemouth that ate my yellow rabbit fur pike fly.
