: First of the year ...

About 22 inches and fat - not bad for this spot in early April :smokin: I could have stayed in this spot and hooked up for hours but wanted to check out a couple of other likely holding areas that turned up blanks. The wind out of the NE was pretty cold but it sure felt good to be out again.

It just gets better from here :D

That's good news!

Think it was a holdover or fresh run?

We have a good resident population in the Housie. They tend to be nomadic during the winter months but a few of the local boat guys can generally track them down.

Once spring gets going they get to be a bit more predictable from shore, especially on moon tides. The over-winter forage in the river must be pretty good since they all come out looking fat and bright. :)

Execellent. It will be a little longer before they show up in this neck of the woods. FishHawk.:smokin:

First UK fish of the year for me on Saturday - we call them garfish - taken out on Steveo's new boat. The bass are starting to show too.....not long now.

The Housatonic is a very reliable spot for stripers at this time of year. Good on you, Adrian.
