NORTHERN RED BELLY DACE

A great brook trout fly here on the north shore it imitates the red belly dace ( a small fish)

MATERIAL

STREAMER HOOK
BLACK TREAD
MYLAR TINSEL
OVAL TINSEL
Throat red Bucktail
Belly black bucktail and olive marabou
Wing White MARABOU & peacock herl
cheeks wood duck flank
Eyes jungle cock optional

gee... with a few changes in color, it would also make a good salmon fingerling pattern.

That's fairly straight-forward and certainly nicely photographed. I think I'll give one a try.

I just got my first fly tying kit and I think your fly would be a bit easier for me to try for the first fly. I'm a bit worried about my hackle-tying future. It looks easy on most videos, but something tells me it's gonna give me a bit of a time. I guess I'm wanting something a bit easier and a well-thought-out arrangement on a streamers seems a good way to get going.
