Steve, great catch! As I recall, Silas said you got one earlier in the year around 12 pounds? So, Silas is still playing catchup, and to beat all, giving you the bow on his boat. What a guy.

Nice, are those ocean fish or is that a really big lake?

It's the English Channel - which is a sea - although looking at the "glass-out" in this photo you'd think it was a lake! :chuckle:

Yeah, I caught a biggie but it weighed 10lb 12oz - although the spring-balanace set we used to weigh some of our fish were out, which we found out later when another obviously big fish (below) weighed in a tad light for it's size!

At 8lb 8oz it was obvious there was a problem with the spring-balance!
This fish measured 31" and was probably nearer 9Żlbs

Steve, you and Silas are destined to be knighted for your accomplishments on the fly rod, targeting european sea bass. The reports that I hear indicate that this species has been exploited by the commercials to the extent that the fish you are catching are truly HUGE.

Your photos don't have any landmarks in the background. How is one to discern the location, other than the English Channel?:lildevl:

One aside to those reading this thread. When they fish on the cape, those two dudes catch more striped bass/bluefish than 95 per cent of the other fishermen. Its not by accident, they've got the fish finding mojo.

In you live and fish in the UK, you don't want to give any clues as to where we you are fishing Jim otherwise it would very soon become a circus and the fish would be gone in a matter of days!
However, if you or any other Fez wearer visits the UK; give Silas or me a shout and we can arrange a trip out in our boats.

Steveo,

You Tart.

Jim and the Guys to put into perspective what Silas and Binksey have achieved it is a sad fact that most UK Bass Fishers do not ever catch a 10lb fish in their entire Bass Fishing lives. To do it on the fly even from a cheating platform like a boat is still awesome.LOL
Steve is so right in that we can't freely talk about marks or they would be overrun. It's so sad but sharing is something that would horribly back fire over here. It's almost embarrasing when I think of all the help I got when I came out to Cape Cod this June past. Me and my budies are already booked to return this June for a re-inavsion of your beaches and flats.
