Awesome! Old Ironsides, isn't it?

You may have already heard this but after spending over a decade enjoying the fruits of the Pacific Northwest, I was killing time during auto maintenance in Pembroke, MA and walked across the North River on a bridge. There was a plaque on the bridge telling a tale of "near this location..." one Admiral Gray built a large sailing vessel 40 years before Lewis and Clark. He sailed the ship down the coast, past the equator (no canal back then) around the horn and up the pacific all the way to a great river teeming with salmon and lined with fertile valleys and snow-capped mountains. He named this river after his ship, the USS Columbia.

The sailing ship history we enjoy in this region is truly legendary. Thanks for the inspiring image!
