Let's start to get a bead on who can do another Rip Trip and when. We can shoot for this Saturday...but the bone clave is on Sunday....some guys indicated that they could do one...others probably will not.... if we have no interest for this coming weekend.... how does the 29th look and who can go? Use this thread....Jim S. please call me...John

Hey John,

Just keep in mind I can't do the 23rd. Got tickets to the Pats/Bills game. Sounds like the forum has something going that day already.
Your welcome to the 21st and 22nd.

Hi John
I can go the 22nd. I am planning to fish on the Cape that day while waiting for Boneclave. I would really enjoy fishing with you if your available, Rip trip or no. Keep me posted

I'm in for the 22nd. I fly in the evening of the 21st. A Rip Trip would be the perfect beginning to my vacation.

Basses is in for the 22d, and I can go. Hiline54 may also be available. Backup plan is weeather does not cooperate, will be the following weekend to insure there is no conflict with the Boneclave.

We arrive in Boston late on Sept. 21 so the 22nd is out for us since we will not get to the Cape until Sunday the 23rd.

Wow,

Looks like the makings of a good day, I really hope the weather is cooperative for you folks. Saturday I will be winging my way to Anticosti Island, Quebec for a whitetail bow hunt. I'll be thinking of you guys.

P.S. Even though my thoughts are leaning towards filling my freezer with tasty game, I am not putting away my fishing gear just yet. I may finagle one more trip south in October. Probably the weekend of the 6th. Oh God!.... I think I have Striperitis. Flydoc is there a cure? I hope not:D

Good luck boys

OK...I will Tally today and post... Naturally we can take more than 10 ...But I think it will get too crowded with 20...so we need to cut it off at 15....I would think... is anyone against a cut off?.... I hope Keith checks this...I will call him tonight... I think with Grizz's last post and if FredA comes and if Penguin comes...I think we are close to 15 but will confirm.

Here is the tally so far: let me know if I missed anyone and if some are dropping out. Does anyone know if VTloon is coming? He said he would since he was to be down for the boneclave and would do a SM trip on Saturday... Thanks

Jim M and I will be in the area, but our Sat plan is to drive down from Lake George and hopefully launch after SBFT. I guess where we launch/fish will be determined by weather and any G2 we have. In any event, we won't be able to get down in time for a Rip Launch.

Fred,

You don't need to be an alternative. I can carry twelve to the tip per my permit.
We just have 10 to cover the minimum fee.

OK thanks Keith...I stand corrected.... If FredA and Penguin go then we are filled. I called Pete today and he is in providing he gets back from Western Mass...which looks good right now. Have not heard back from Fred yet.

John- was at Fishing the Cape this afternoon picking up some leaders, and got to talking with the shop manager (the young guy..damned if I forgot his name, but you would know who I'm talking about)...he would be interested in going on Saturday if there is space, so feel free to give him a call if either Fred or Pete can't make it and you need an extra body.

John, don't forget Basses. Earlier post indicated he was a go.

Looks like we have a quorum, and weather permitting, it could be epic at the rip.

Based on the last trip, bring wire.

If Pete and Fred go we are filled up. I am fairly certain that Pete is in. I can only assume that Fred is away from the board since he has not yet answered a PM from me. I will see by tomorrow if they are in. If not I will have to fill Fred's slot with a friend of mine from the Boston Flycasters who I guided this summer and spoke with this afternoon. I would ask that Coldwater and Beachguyny watch the board incase of a cancellation. flydoc, the guy you spoke with at FTC is Chris, the Orvis store manager, and the director of the Flyfishing school this past year. I will call him tomorrow.

Based on the last trip, bring wire.

Or lots of extra flies:lildevl:
I had best luck with a fast sink line, 20 lb Mirage fluoro leader, and my best imitation of Juro's Deep Eel. Let the line sink for at least 4-5 seconds before starting the retrieve if you want to target the stripers instead of the snapper blues....
Flydoc
P.S.- John- thanks for the heads up on Chris at FTC- I was thinking that's what his name was, but wasn't quite sure if I was confusing his name with that of the younger member of the mighty Simms clan... ;)

For those of you who can't make this weeks trip there is one scheduled for the 29th. The clock is ticking and we might not have anymore Rip Trips after the 29th.
I post this just as a suggestion. Tight lines this weekend . FishHawk:smokin:

striblue

Bill...You are correct....The next trip is scheduled for the 29th....Right now, I think that that list will begin with JimS, me, Jim's son, Fish Hawk and I am signing up French Pete and his son, who will be on the Cape that time.He just PM'd and asked that I do that and to make sure he and his son are on the list. I may not be able to go so my spot may open.... That's 6 so far for next trip....If anyone wants to sign up for the 29th....you might as well do that now.... Max 12, $30 dollars each. I will open a new thread right now. This is an edit.....spoke to keith this morning... we are looking at a 7:30 AM departure time ...also, I think the guide from Alaska , Hine54, probably will not be with us as he has about 6 guys to take out and they are not on this trip. Keith will confirm. Need to ask Jim S if I have the right guy. Is Hine54 the Alaska guy.... need to know as this opens an other slot.....Finally the only problem that can arise with the 29th besides the weather is that Keith may be out of town and that would cancel that trip and we may need to look at another day...Keith will also confirm that.

AS of 6:00pm we are getting reports of SW 10-15 with gust to 20 in the afternoon.
This has changed 3 times today. So I will post again after the 10 pm news casts to give them a chance to change their minds again.

Talk to you after 10.

So far it seems the gusts are only going to be to 20 in the afternoon, so we will leave at 730am. If need be, I will call it earlier in the afternoon than 4pm, if we start pushing higher gusts. We may also have to change the pick up to the Lighthouse trail to get a little cover from the SW for the boat, from a spit that sticks out a bit there.

Talk more in the morning.

Capt Keith
