My wife is interested in visiting Holbox island in January. We've been to Tulum, Playa, and cozumel in the last too years and she seems to really enjoy the more out of the way type spots in Mexico, which is just fine with me. I've read quite a bit about the fishing on Holbox and it sound like the most sought after species there is baby Tarbon. There has been some mention of a few permit and a few bonefish being around, but not huge numbers. Has anyone fished the area before? What types of opportunities are available without a guide, just walking the beaches.
