Hey, Steelheaders:

I would like to expand this Forum to include all anadromous species (excepting perhaps sturgeon and lampreys) caught on flies in our rivers and estuaries. This would be the logical spot to post vignettes of sea-run cutthroat sorties, Chinook battles, Coho hunts, and, well, you get the picture. Five or six Pacific salmon (maybe an entry or two from Asia), shad, sea-run cutthroat, feral Atlantic salmon, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, maybe the odd Sheefish. As well as our beloved Steelhead.

I was thinking of renaming the Forum something inclusive. So far, I have not come up with anything that really captures what I want "Pacific Northwest Anadromous" (sounds like a retirement fund); "Pacific Northwest Rivers and Estuaries" (dull); others come to mind, but they're even worse.

So, I you agree the name of this Forum could be changed to something more inclusive, send your suggestion in and maybe you'll be the big prize winner.

If you object to the name change, better let me know that, too.

Eric -

Per the discussion on the topic between moderators, I agree with including other species especially with things coming into season right around the corner. In fact I still hope to float the Deschutes with you this fall and perhaps we can do a fitting article in Chronicles on the various species.

How about 'Pacific Northwest Sea-Runs'? Just a suggestion.

Pacific Northwest salmonoids?

It makes perfect sense to me to change the name to reflect the other fine anadromous sportfish found in the Pacific. How does "Pacific Searun Sportfish" sound?
