Fished my favorite local carp lake on Saturday and found lots of tight-lipped fish. I had plenty of shots and some pretty good casts but they either ignored the fly or turned away. Had better luck with pike today at the river. Managed to catch a few and had a spectacular boatside hit and miss. None were particularly large, maybe 18-30", but a couple of the larger ones seemed unusually strong and ran circles around the boat before popping loose from the hook. The one that hit and missed did a full cartwheel as I picked up the fly to make another cast :whoa: .
