Sorta had a wee bit of time today so I tied up a Moonlight. Haven't done Spey or Dee patterns for quite some time. It was good excerise. Framed the fly this afternoon in a black, triple mat frame.I kinda like it but will let it go mabey next week at the Dieppe Fly Show.

Nicely done. This fly works well for steelhead; but very few use it.

Here's another one tied by me with cinnamon turkey wing.

Jumbo,

The Moonlight is found in Price-Tannat's book on dressing salmon flies. Here is the pattern:

Tag: flat silver tinsel, long (root of barb to hook point) or very fine oval silver
Tail: Golden Pheasant crest
Tail veil: small jungle cock on each side
Rear Body: flat silver tinsel
Rib: oval silver tinsel, sized to match hook
Body veil: Matched pair of Kingfisher top and bottom (tied like verticle wings)
front body: black floss
Rib: medium flat and oval silver tinsel on rear edge of flat tinsel (twist could be used instead of oval)
Hackle: black spey feather
Throat: guinea (sparse)
Wing: Cinnamon or white turkey dee style (Argus makes a great wing too)
Sides: jungle cock tied along body or drooping slightly
