I am looking for a 5-6 wt travel rod. I would like it to pack down to fit in eiher my carry on or check in luggage. Any input would be great. Just looking for a good rod to fish for bass, trout and possibly carp. more bass and trout then carp. I have looked at orvis, llbean ,march brown... any advise or opinions would help.

I have the Lamiglas travel series 9wt 9ft that I used for Steelhead and salmon and it is a really good rod. It breaks down into 4 pieces and fits in a very small case. It is $100-$150 depending on where you buy it. (I think). They make them in 5wts too. I believe the model number is TR905. Great rod for the price (at least my 9wt is).

I've heard very good things about the March Brown's, for what its worth. I tried out landcasting a 9 piece 9wt and it seemed like it had pretty good flex to it

The discontinued Albright A5 in a 6-weight would be perfect, IMHO, for what you describe as the use to which you will put the rod. If you can find one, you should be able to pick it up for about $135-140. I bought two and keep one in reserve. My $0.02.
TFO 6pc for me. Love it and carry it on all the time. I have the 8wt and the 5wt. Other good options are Bean and Orvis...both have a 9pc that will get the rod inside your briefcase. Pretty short money as well...
