I am a newbie but have lurked for a while and have been intrigued by all the posts about the Acklins. I finally took the plunge (really just a quick dip) and am going down at the end of March with a friend for basically a long weekend of fishing-Sat. thru Tues. We are staying at either Chester's or Outback and since we have so little time have decided to get a guide for 3 days with just a 1/2 day on Sat. as a DIY. Does anyone have any experience with either place and/or reccommendations for guides. I have fished on Andros several times and in fact will be going again in May but this is my first time to the Acklins. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you are staying at Chester Highway Lodge our Fedel's Outback lodge. In either case you'll be in Chester and will have prime bone fishing in a creek and bay system we refer to as Pestell, right out the door.

Do you play dominoes?

I'm depressed. I don't want to talk anymore.

Sat thru wed or are you on a charter flight?

Chester is very remote. If you are lucky the off the chain will be open :)

Are your meals provided? If not Grays pt is not far but you might be best to make arrangements ahead of time.

Or have dinner at lovely bay sunset rest tell them you want the lobster dinner we always order

DIY Remember these wise words... When de tide come in dem bonefish come in; when it goes out they go out

Simple eh :hehe:

We are fishing thru Tuesday, and flying out Wednesday on Bahamasair. (We might be able to fish early Wed. before we depart). Food is included at both places. Do you have you any experience with these places and/or the guides they use?

Not specifically but if you are in Chester with a local guide from Acklins, here is what I would expect...

you: "is that a tidal wave or more bonefish?"

guide: "more bonefish mon, get tready" (smile)

Oh and definitely eat at the Sunset in Lovely Bay. The more I think about that last lobster dinner....

According to the web pages for the two lodges...
Outback is run by Fedel who is reputed to be the top guide on the island.

Chester Highway Inn has Elvis listed as one of four guides. Elvis is also top shelf and I believe he is either Fedel's brother or cousin.

In any case, you probably can't go wrong.
