I'll be in the Berkshires this week and would love to hook up for some trouting. Wed, Friday and Saturday I'll definitely be out, Thursday and Sunday a.m. maybe. My default would be to head up to the Deerfield or Westfield, but I'm game to meet up elsewhere, too.
I'll throw out the suggestion of meeting for breakfast at the Charlemont Inn on Friday and/or Saturday to anybody who might be interested.
I know waters are very high, but I think I know how to get around the worst, and also hope things will settle down a bit by this weekend.
PM or post here if you were thinking of something similar.

Good luck on the Swift/Deerfield although the Swift is the place to go due to the high water everywhere else. I'd be on the Swift too except for the holiday and a girlfriend who'se availability can't be overlooked. But next weekend for sure. My close knit circle of angling friends have been knocking them dead on the Swift with double didget catches over the past two weeks. The hatchery run........very good!!!!!! Don't be fooled by the risers. Scuds and bright soft hackles just below the surface fool those rainbows and browns.

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck. Keep us posted.

So how'd you do? Where'd you end up?

I got a good helping of humble pie but had a great time nontheless. Wed. a.m. I was on the Swift and managed one small brookie on a midge before jackhammering on the bridge drive me away. It was a pretty day, and only maybe 6-10 people fishing, but the 'bam-bam-bam was a bit much.
I drove over to the Chesterfield gorge on the Westfield (thanks, Jed) and fished pocket water below the gorge until dark with no hits. What a georgeous place, though.

Friday I met Jim Miller on the Battenkill for another dose of humble pie. No touches for me with small numphs on 6x.

Sunday I fished the Deerfield and restocked my faith with a steady stream of rainbows from the Rt 2 - Charlemont stretch. They'd dropped the water for the first time in weeks, fish were willing and most of the usual lies produced.
I went up to the Cold river pool to find two poachers working it with a gillnet-seine and at least 100 lbs of trout in a cooler. Tough bunch, although they did point out my cell phone won't work there. I got out of there and went upriver, hoping to find an EPO, but that kinda shot my psyche for the day, so I wrapped it up around 1400.

did you get their license plate number? description? Did you report it to the authorities? If these guys were that bold they probably do this quite a bit and could have been easily picked up by the police soon enough.
