i was heading to the salmon river on sunday with a friend for a couple of days but it looks like the flows will be unmanagable. any recommendations or suggestions for some other streams in the area? is the catt still looking bad?

Salmon Sounds your best bet, there are plenty of fish in there. Some steches are loaded with people. I counted just over 50 people while standing between the wire and the schoolhouse pool.

below bridge is fine pocket water and riffle water. it fishes well when salmon is high and is known to have reasonable run of wild fish. pat miura is best local guide for this water. he is a wading sight fishing guide advertised at the portly angler with interest in traditional ff techniques. i really enjoyed an outing with him last year when salmon was too high for anything but serious lead. pat put me on to 10-12 fish in horrible winter weather with sleet snow wind and 4 degree temps. he was pumped to take out an enthusiast as myself in this weather. we broke two rod tips from frozen lines and tip tops but a single cheese micro glow bug was all that was needed to keep warm with dead winter steelie action. the best time to fish is anytime you can.
