Good luck on your trip its a great time of year to be in the "Valley". I would suggest several different versions of the Muddler Minnow have a few variants, just for your own fancy, as I truly do not beleive the fish really care( but I know we do)!
Natural and black and purple are real stand by favorites not just in the" Valley" but throughout the range of Steelheads. Sometimes I even use one with a stinger tail of marabou that will whip around in the surface boils a bit:cool:

a riffle hitch muddler will do well.
mcmillans book dry line steelhead also shows a randy stetzer pattern called 'mooseturd" with an upsweep forward wing that works very well.
remember to DROP your rod on the take count to two THEN set.
