: Couldn't get away from small fish tonight

No matter where I fished tonight, no matter how large a fly I threw, I couldn't get away from the small stripers. I caught about twenty, and if you put them end to end they might have measured twenty feet long.

Outgoing tide, plenty of bait (for once), and impending darkness......right formula, wrong size.

I blame Sean Juan. :lildevl:

same here. fished between deer island and the pilot house from about 5ish to 6:30. non stop schoolies to 20", most smaller. threw everything but the kitchen sink in all shapes, colors, and sizes. no hits on the big stuff while everything else got the little guys.

Remember guys....come January...we will all be wishing that we were fishing and only catching twinkies :)
Hoping for larger fish myself in my overnighter at the Cape starting this afternoon...but, fish are fish!

Ya I really dropped the ball on that one and I apologize.

Up here there seems to be no end to small schoolies - haven't even heard about a keep being fly-caught since September - not sure what the deal is.

I'm going to file an offical complaint with Neptune.

Your penance is to tie me up a dozen of those flash bunker flies of yours.

Off to the vise with you!
