I live fairly close to the Oregon striper fishery, namely the lower Umpqua and Smith rivers.

Does anyone else on the Forum fish for these creatures? If so, what are the best times to go, the best tides, best flies, and best presentations? I've read what John Shewey has to say, but would like more information.

Not looking for specific places, mind you, just the when and how.

Thanks in advance,

I'd bet you could dig up some info on that fishery at the forum on Dan Blanton's site.

I know quite a few Golden state striper hounds but the OR striperman seems to be an elusive species in himself. Perhaps it's the abundance of salmon (?)

In any case Joe Brooks did a lot of it in his day.
