Just reporting on a backpacking trek on 8/24-8/28. Well the trek started out meeting up at a fly shop in Kernville, Ca. We had a group of 10 on this trek and it was the first time I would all meet most of the people:Eyecrazy: Well everyone showed up as planed and we set out on the road for about a 1 1/2 hours from the shop to the trailhead into the Golden Trout Wilderness. The trek was all down hill for about a 3 miles or so to where we were going to set up camp. I set up my camp real quick so I could start fly fishing. The river was flow a bit fast but still very fishable.
This is a photo of the group minus the photographer and another guy who showed up the next day.
I had one of the best times with this group of people and it was great to make new friends.
The river looked real nice and was full of willing "Kern River Rainbows" ready to play. Here is a photo of the river near camp.
This is what the Kern River Rainbows look like.
This is me with one of many fish I C&R
I hope you all enjoy the photos and report of one of my local waters:)

That is some beautiful country out there. The water clarity alone is amazing.

Thanks for sharing.

Flyfisher70 -

Thanks for the view into your fishing mecca (so to speak)! What a great group you went with too, even the shaded toddler pack - awesome!

The picture of the rainbow in the water says it all.

Thanks for that refreshing report, I look forward to hearing more about your fishing in fact I've visited CA a zillion times and who knows I might end up extending a stay to explore these places next time! Hope so.
