Just curious if any of you out there with connections have had a chance to eyeball or cast the new Sage Z-Axis rods (the XP's replacement)? I saw my first info in Fly Fish America magazine's most recent issue (Sept 2006).

One thing I think might happen to this rod is it will have a tendency to break more easily now that they removed the fiberglass scrim. A lighter rod yes but at what price. When someone mentioned this to a sales rep . he avoided the question.
Hope , I'm wrong on this. FishHawk

Fish hawk,
The new construction of the Z-axis rods will make it More Durable than the XP series. This is the new Sage Generation 5 technology.

Last year I traded in all of my SPL rods for the new TXL with Generation 5 construction, yes a noticable improvement in rod performance.

Lighter weight, thinner diameter and tougher blanks,,,,,great designs.

FK
