I was thinking of orgainizing a rip trip this weekend....probably Saturday... weather looks good.... forget the tides... there is a lot of spots to fish and a nice trip all in all. I am heading down to Chatham tonight though the weekend (my daughter works in downtown Chatham so I must go tonight).... I will contact Keith tomorrow and I expect to have my dial up hooked up this when I get down... you all know the drill...10 guys max..... thoughts?
RATS! I have a family bday commitment at 5pm, and can't make that timeline. Count me in at a later date, it's been very good down there.

I have my family visiting this weekend, so I certainly cannot swing it.
"swing it" - no pun intended :)

Count me in also.:hihi:
What time is the return leg planned for? I would *REALLY* like to go but it could be risky if you know what I mean (wife's side of family).

I'm on Cape this w/e so count me in for Saturday (or Sunday) :)
Just one thought, looking at the F&WS map of the refuge shows most of the beach closed this season where we usually fish down there. Do we get a dispensation or is this something new?
Probably worth a check with Mike at the Refuge.
these zones refer to the land area beyond the signs - the area we have been fishing on NM corresponds to the red areas

Actually it was the "Beach Closed" designation that caught my eye as found at the North East tip of SM.
Having said that there are two boat landings shown on SM. Presumably for the rip, the lower marked area is designated "Area Closed" rather than "Beach Closed"?
hmmm good point
I didn't notice the area vs beach designations until you pointed them out. I assumed the closure was like NM with the signs etc but it very well could mean "BEACH" closed to your point.
A call to Mike is in order... I'm sure Rip Ryder will know as well.

A friend & I are heading down Sunday to fish Monomy on Monday.
I am out - I need to head back by 2pm to make this family birthday party in time.
Any possibility for Sunday? Due to weather I will be post-poning a sight fishing outing on the flats so have that day open unless my better half breaks out the honey-do list. I would love to have an excuse to break out the 600 grain rip stripper on the atlantis.

Sunday would work for me too....

I'd be up for Sunday if the weather holds...

Sunday may be the better day as we , once again ,must deal with the weather forcast......

My guess is no rip trip for tomorrow due to weather and lack of numbers. I'm on duty next weekend, so I'll be looking for August for the next one.

I think we need to find another title for this event since whenever the words "R*P TR*P" get mentioned the weather goes South in a hurry:(

Agreed Adrian. A good time to have one would be around Aug 12th . Huge tides the best of the whole summer. Let's call it"Frank's trip":lildevl: :hihi:
Hope Striblue(Frank ,reads this) FishHawk
Weather was horrible. We would have had an 8 mile walk for sure.
But flats fishing was great.
I actually had a 27" fish leap like a tarpon on the hook set on the flats, only the third time ever a striper jumped on my line. Could hardly get a strip before they would jump on the fly, in water so skinny they were pushing wakes with their dorsals.
I don't think I will ever cancel a flats trip due to crap weather again unless there is lightning.
