I embedded this in a post a while ago but thought I'd repost it here.

To save your watch face from scratches while on your beach and boat adventures coat it with clear fingernail polish. When the polish gets scratched just remove it and recoat or just plain recoat.

Hey Greg -

In the ole days with expansion bracelets we just use to flip our watches over. Those were the "Fonzy Days." But it explains why so many Coast Guard boats use to board me for destress calls. The reflection and my wrist movements from casting would send them morse code signals.

Would clear packaging tape in layers work?

Like Formula 1 race car driver's helmet? I think it souds like a good idea. An entrpeneur would probably develop and sell that idea...

A product that we all see most times that you purchase a new piece of electronic equipment is the clear piece of mylar like film over the screen which appears to have some qualities of adheasion but none of the adheasive. This same material appears to be in use by Nascar as a complete windshield tareaway.Shades of formula 1. Material has to be aviable somewhere.

I believe that the material you are talking about is Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film. A lot of stickers/decals that use static cling to stick to windows use this material. A print shop that makes the static cling decals may be able to supply samples.
