I appologize that this is not an informative topic, but I will be fishing very heavily for next couple of weeks. I am on a low carb diet and need something for the lunch break. My father has his trusty bagel and cream cheese, out. My brother his his sandwiches, out. Rooster brings his sandwich cart (Big Blue), out. I'm trying to think of something filling, yet low carb. My only thought is low carb wraps.
Any other ideas out there?

How about bluefish sashimi? :D
Actually, beef jerkey is about as low carb / low fat / high protein as you can get. A full 4 oz adds up to about 320 calories so factor in the "death march" and your in "colorie deficit" territory :smokin: Also its one of the few things that doesn't seem to suffer with being baked in a backpack - assuming the sun puts in an appearance.
There are lots of options here!
Adrian's got a good point with the jerky. Good stuff indeed, just keep tabs on the sodium, cholesterol and fats. Usually not that bad, varies with brand. Complement with fiber to escort the cholesterol out.
But going beyond here are a few of my favorites...
Roast turkey slices from the Stop and Shop deli. No excuses, they are open 24 hrs at exit 11. Delicious and you get a nice resealable bag.
Better yet, roast chicken from the rotisserie. What could be better than baked chicken on the beach!
I also like slices of london broil (sirloin) made the night before. It's the easiest thing in the world to cook in the oven and slices against the grain a gourmet treat on the beach.
Edamame beans. Available frozen or in the sushi display, pure soybeans fully cooked and ready to pop. You can discard the husks like peanut shells. Loaded with protein.
Taboule salad. Tastes like something that is bad for you, but low carb and lots of flavor in place of potato salad because of the olive oil and lemon accent.
Hummus and/or baba gannouj (sp?) which are high protein chick-pea based spreads that complement taboule salad.
Josephs' low carb high protein wraps, if you must have the bread effect. Put a little of the turkey with the taboule and hummus (maybe a roasted red pepper or tomato basil?) and you have a killer wrap that keeps your body from spiking the insulin.
Canned tuna with pop top, bring a ziplock for the can afterwards and a plastic spoon. If you don't eat it one decade, it's still good the next.
Hard boiled eggs. Try not to eat all the yolk, I will have just a small bit of it as an accent and give the rest of the yolk to my dog at home, or discard on the beach - it won't go to waste in the wild. A salt and pepper packet from the take out counter and a winning snack!
Lowfat cheeses. I particularly like the Cabot low fat cheddar which come in small sealed servings. Low in carbs, high in protein and calcium.
Lots of water! Many sensations of hunger are actually thirst according to diet books. Keep one sated to beat the other.
Buy bulk almonds and other nuts (avoid the bad ones) to eat as snacks and after the meats to provide the sensation of a starch without the carbs. Nuts are awesome for you and taste like carbs.
An easy solution is bring a can of high protein diet shake. The downside is they need to be cold to taste good. Maybe you can drop one in Rooster's cache. 20g of protein, 3g carbs! Can't beat that.
I also like small cans of v8 vegetable juice (low sodium) which really aren't the best tasting but man does it put some good stuff inside you quickly.
Substitute breads with WASA sesame crisps, which are low carb - although not as good as "no" carb.
Cut the beer out. Have a couple of shots of premium liquor instead (depending on the liquor). Stay away from sugary stuff like dried fruits, even energy bars which can be loaded with carbs.
Take psyllium based fiber capsules. The fiber is high quality and not only blocks carbs from absorption but makes you feel more full. Besides if you need to go out there you'll appreciate the drastic reduction in paper you need to use, I won't go into any more detail than that.
Remember that the carbs in breads and other stuff others typically eat actually make them hungry faster over the course of the day. It's all about getting used to the lack of the bready stuff and keeping good quality protein in your body 2(potassium, antioxidants, etc).
I am at a point in the diet where I fluctuate between 159 and 162 pounds (down from 190 in November) so I can take in carbs that I know I can burn before my body converts it to fat. However the only way I ever got here was by strictly adhering to the same thing you are doing.
Don't give up, and don't stray from the approach, it works. Sean Ransom lost 30 pounds as well. There is so much high quality food in the world, no need to give our bodies substances that it can only divert to fat if not burned immediately.

I think I'm going to have to hit the store before I come up. I intend to be very strict with my eating. These are all great ideas. Juro, I'm going to have to print your list and take it to the store with me.
