All,

I'll be making a trip to Wenham June 29- July 3 to visit old friends who understand my fishing habit. I would really, really like to catch my first striper on this trip. Total wash-out in Maine last June, too early in Chatham this year.... read Ed Mitchell's book like, four times last winter... so I'll admit I'm eager.

Any advice as to locations, flies, and times from the old masters in the forum?

Is there a good shop in that area?

There is a good shop on Route 1A right on the Beverly/Wenham line-River's Edge Trading Co.-- full orvis dealer and very knowledgable about the whole area. First Light Anglers is on Route 1A in Rowley, right at the Junction of Route 1A and Route 133- again these guys know the area really well.

From Wenham yo have several good options, although all involve some driving:

1. West Beach in Beverly Farms;
2. Singing Beach in Manchester ;
3. Shoreline in Magnolia;
4. Eastern Point in Gloucester;
5. Long Beach/Saratoga Rock- Rockport;
6. Pebble Beach- Rockport;
7. Front Beach- Rockport;
8. Halibut Point- Rockport;
9. Folly Cove- Pigeon Cove- Rockport;
10. All around Annisquam;
11. Crane's Beach- Ipswich;
12. Castle Hill Beach- Ipswich;
13. Pavillion Beach- Ipswich;
14. Parker River Refuge- Rowley;
15. Plum Island River/Woodbridge Island- Newburyport ( Plum Island);
16. Mouth of the Merricmack/Plum Island Beach front.

This covers all of my "former" wading spots on Cape Ann and the Mack, before people had boats.

That should keep you busy for a few days. There are some great guides in the area too. Send me a PM and I can give you some contact info.
