Took the boat to the river today and managed to catch a few pike (and one crappie :hihi: ) on yellow rabbit strip flies. The first pike was a chunky 28"er with an old battle scar. The other 4 or 5 were all smaller but just as feisty. Water was a little high and fast but pretty clear.
Here's the bigger one as I got it near the boat:

. . . and just before release. Notice the old battle wound. This fish is apparently doing just fine despite having had a significant gill injury in the past.

Found this poor guy on the bank of the river. Guess the raging torrent was too much for him . . .

That is a photo assay worthy of the chronicle archives, especially that last picture. :hihi:
Looks like the pike action is picking up again. I had the boat out on the river today for a shakedown cruise, and all is well.
I wonder what's next?

Yeah, that's a great set of photos! Reading this was a good way to start a Monday morning.

Great Read! Thanks.
Took a few casts the other day at a local pond with a spinner with my daughter (6 mos) in a backpack. Got a few follows and she started crying. Next time i have a few hours I'm back with bunny flies. It was great to have the little girl out on the water, though.
