I know that others have had success getting their QD line Replaced by Cortland. So, I thought I'd post & find out what the path of least resistance is. I have the web site (http://www.cortlandline.com/), but I was wonder if someone had the toll-free number? I think JohnM gave it to me for my DiamondBack problem, but I don't have it anymore.

So, just like veryone else, the coating cracked right where the brown head meets the yellow running line. The coating is coming off & catching in the guides.

This may be a coincidence, but I started noticing problems AFTER I caught a 25# fish in Chatham. Did others have their problems after landind a heftey fish ??

Thanks in advance, GregO.

Found it! I figured I left it in my briefcase & it worked its way down to the bottom of the pile, so

Cortland's Toll-Free number is 1-800-626-2970.

Greg:

Whne you call Cortland, ask for Joe Wolfe. He is well aware of issue with the QD line as I had a discussion with him about 2 months back and committed he would bring the issue to R and D at Cortland.

Greg,

Last night I received my replacements, 325 QD (delaminated) & 9 WT clear int (snapped) which I sent out last Tuesday.

I called and got return authorizatoin numbers and wrote a detailed letter outlining my perceived pro's & con's of the lines. I received a call from a Cortland tech but I was out of town & have yet to follow up. Only known info (from wife) was that they agreed the lines were defective.

Good luck.

I also got an RA# & wrote a letter including my daytime phone number. I'll be mailing it out tomorrow. We'll see what happens. My main point was that a high-end fly line that is taken care of correctly, should last a lot longer than one year. I think what happened was that a defective batch got sent to this area & it's not indicative of the product in general. They seem to be cooperative about replacing product that the customer is unhappy with.

I've heard Cortland has discontinued the 325 because they can't get the coating right; something about moisture in the polymer. I'm curious if that's really the case -- is Cortland bailing on the whole concept, or are they re-engineering, or is this just a rumor?

I just cut mine off at the backing. The exact same thing happened to me last weekend while bellied up to the bar. I'm stopping by to see Scott at the B's Den for a Rio deep sink. I found it casts pretty damn well when I tried it on Juro's rod. YMMV.
