wanted to know how the steelhead fishing in the salmon river is doing,im going up this weekend and was told their spawning now,I dont plan on keeping any just catch and release,whats the best flys to use now for steelhead,never fished for them gonna try it with the fly rod,when is peak spawning season for these fish.and hows the weather up there.thanks!

The level is at 1750cfs right now, which is a bit high. Hopefully they will drop it by the weekend (very likely) and the fishing will be good for you. There are fish in. Most of the steelhead should be done spawning by now which means they should be starting to hit streamers and wet flies well. The browns spawn in the fall so they are definitely eating.
