Presently using the SA 'nymph' line on my 8wt, but it's like trying to cast a rope. Probably a good line, but for me .. zero affinity.

On the Rogue the typical set up is a two fly combo, the first normally quite heavy (#4 or 6 hook) and a trailer. Again this will usually be weighted with .02 wire or a large bead head.

Line suggestions?

Pardon my ignorance, but where's the Rogue and what do you fish for on it?

The Rouge is a West Coast steelhead river.

Have you tried a Bass or Pike taper? They are great for turning over large flies and even sink tips. A lot of the guys that fish single-handed rods on the Gaspe use them in the spring to turn over the big salmon flies we use up there in the spring.

Try the Rio Clouser line. It turns over some pretty big stuff. You might be able to get a demo from Rio.

I think you ought to check out the RIO Clouser line as well for what you are wanting the line to do.
