The season opened on the Scottish Dee. Actor Paul Young wasted some fine whiskey by pouring it onto the river for the TV cameras. The river had a 3-4 ft border of 2-3" ice, with the center of the river being full of grue. (frozen ice chrystals) We stood around till 3 0 clock vainly hoping for a thaw, but as the temperature started to drop even I decided the thaw was not arriving.

Perhaps he was trying to use the whiskey to thaw the grue. Whiskey is good :devil: but catching a salmon is better.

Good luck with your season, hope it goes well. We still have a few months.
