I am wondering if anyone has some news on the Sandy River's winter run of steelhead. Didn't they change hatchery stock to create a run that should in theory arrive later than in previous years? The vanguard of the winter fish should arrive later in the month, but I'm not sure about the new stock's timing, and how that'll change the run.

still somewhat of a question. I would just fish when you can. If there are fewer fish it setting is less competitive. Yes the played with the stock and are "brood stocking" now.

ODFW helped answer this one in their weekly recreation report, "It remains open for steelhead, but it is a bit too early for winter steelhead to be showing up. This is an in-between time for the Sandy , but an opportunity to get your gear in order before the winter season starts."[http://www.dfw.state.or.us/RR/willamette/]. So, patch your waders and load up your fly box...
