Well we know everything we need to know from last year... and I am dying to do it again!

Anyone interested? The plan is to do multiple trips throughout the frigid season to thaw out in the warm Bahamian sunshine where the flats are bright and clear and the bonefish roam...

Very affordable and we have the spots wired.

Very interested. Weighing some options at the moment as well. I've got a "regular" schedule already booked . . . so what do you guys think?
Would be great with a boat and no "march".

I'd better start saving! I don't want to miss this one. Juro. How much $$$$ minimum? Had plenty last year but this year is a different story.

Phil,

Once we get a group who is sincere we will enable the "ridiculous" chat area and work out the details. Cost is not a huge barrier not even on my shoestring budget.

By the way I think we should do as many trips as possible this winter

Take a peek at airfare from BOS to NAS in mid January... I got $198 r/t !!!

Late Feb / early March - same $198 r/t!!!

Maybe a good time to get serious before those rates go up. Did you price the connection to Acklins? Would be great if we could fly out out of Nassau same day and get that leg overwith. Please just give me a ball park on the total so I can start planning. If you are absolutely serious about this I'm all over it but I need a budget figure in order to plan so long as we have a happy go lucky group of non complainers. Even if the fishing sucks I'll have no complaints whatsoever.

Well I might not be alone on a death march then.

I saw ice on puddles this morning.

I love a parade... and the sense of freedom, relying on your feet and legs only. Those creek outlets down Binnicle way were all the sweeter after a long, hot walk across the dried out, asphalt like flats.

It doesn't look good for me this year but I'm holding out hope.

Will you guys be doing a trip as late as May? If so I have two guys and myself trying to plan a trip. If not can you let me know how you guys arranged your trip so we can follow in your footsteps?

No problem - if we get a group large enough, we will go as a group otherwise I can provide contact information for lodging etc. You're covered.

Once you are definitely on track for this I will include your group in the offline planning discussion area.

Am a complete bonefish newbie, never been. PM's Juro about this trip as a first timer for me, his discussion was incouraging. Am assuming sometime mid spring, which is doable for me. Now I just need to work on budget issues. It will costs me around $500 to get to Nassau from Oregon. Add into that additional gear (back up rod...), etc. and I'm sitting around $900-$1,100. Can any of last year's attendees give me some input on the other costs associated w/ this trip? i.e. lodging, transportation on Acklin's, as well as the flight from Nassau to Acklins, food, spirits, etc. that were involved w/ that trip? This would be my first tropics trip, and I'm pretty much clueless on what to expect financially. I've enjoyed reading last year's accounts of the trip. Think I have a pretty good hold on the mechanics.
Thanks for the help, I hope I can make it!!!

Could be tempted to join in on one of these junkets, but would need to know the specific dates planned for and SOON, as my call group meets December 2 to iron out our call/vacation schedule for January through March.

P.S.- checked Bahamas Air web site- round trip from Nassau to Acklins is $210, but apparently only flies Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Ok I'll talk to our man Felton and look at some tide charts and the ever-important begging with my better half to try to nail down some dates (but 12-2 is a bit tight doc). I hope we can do multiples this season.

For a full week we leave Friday and enjoy a wonderful evening in Nassau where people fly in from their home cities. Then bright and early we arrive at bonefish heaven and could be fishing by noon, last year I landed a 4+ # fish on my first cast before 2pm. I think we could beat that this year.

For a few days you could fly in Wednesday and leave Sat or vice versa depending on whether you wanted to hook up on the start of end of the week.

Now realistically with so much area (reputedly 1000 sq miles of flats) to explore we had peaks and valleys in the 'catching' department but the fishing was always top shelf and rarely if ever did we see another angler. When it turned out it was silly.

This year would be different as we know precisely where to go and when, but I plan to gain as many new spots as we did last year and this means investment in more exploration (fun in it's own right to me).

In todays world it's not easy to find "virgin" fishing. Acklins is as virgin as it gets with fresh drinking water, and the new reverse osmosis plant makes that an easy and plentiful commodity.

We should plan to include a guided day with a local (legendary) guide this year so as to show good will.

Local restaurants offer great values, we loved the traditional Bahamian meals.

I can't wait!

Thanks Juro- if you can't nail something in the Jan-March zone before my meeting on Dec 2, I'd still be open to something in April (but would need to know those dates before the next meeting at the beginning of March). Otherwise, I'll catch you at the Spring Clave (hopefully).
