Thinking about buying this rod for next season. I currently have a bunch of Airflo WF-10 shooting heads and I'd prefer to use these rather than buy a bunch of new ones. So in order to figure out ahead of time how much damage my wallet will sustain - - - -

Can the 9/10 All-Rounder cast OK with standard WF-10 lines?

Peter what are the grain weights on those?

The new rio outbound in 10wt is what we are using with good success. They come in at 425 grains. I think your heads should work.

Another consideration: how long are they?

Mine are much lighter, in around 325-350. They're genuine AFTMA 10 wts. at 35' At 425 over 35', that makes it more of a 11/12 wt. I normally use around 425-450 on my Atlantis 11 /12 wt. I did have the chance for a few casts of the Outbound on the 9/10 at the Salmon River clave and it went very well, though I don't know which Outbound it was. It did load the rod very deeply.

The rio is 2 and half feet longer than yours as well. The outbounds are 37.5' long and made to cast a little heavier.

So they be a touch light but that may not be a bad thing as the rod can cast off the top half pretty well. The 35' heads do an OK job on the smaller CND. For instance I use the 40+ striper line by airflo in a 9wt and they work pretty well on the rod. So your heads may be a touch light but they should work just fine.

thanks, at least I can fish it without a big investment in more lines (like I need anymore)
