Hello,
Thought I'd give you a little update on the Gaspé.

final counts on the three rivers...

Dartmouth
176 grilses
634 salmon
Total: 810

York
244 grilses
1088 salmon
Total 1332

St-Jean
294 grilses
906 salmon
Total 1200

September fishing this season compared to 2004 was a little more difficult, due to low water conditions.
Most hook ups were with NO 10,12 & 14 flies.... !!
:confused: Very politely, we were successful landing numerous fish!

Counts above were done in late September, however, there are more fish coming in.... last day, Sept 30, we fished Dartmouth river and could see 21 fresh fish below the lower bridge in Sector 1. ( estuary waters... :mad: )

Hi Willie Gunn

These counts are the runs...... not the catches.
Very difficult to know the catches......... ( most releases are not registered)

Ann I'm amazed the runs are so low. The Spey CATCHES this year are expected to be around 9000 this year down as little on last years excellent 10 000. The Tweed had over 600this week!!

Dee fish from last day of the season.

Went back in my notes to check the runs a few years before:

York
2000 = 1259
2001 = 1673
2002 = 1530
2003 = 2177
2004 = 1890
2005 = 1332

Dartmouth
2000 = 781
2001 = 954
2002 = 935
2003 = 1288
2004 = 1097
2005 = 810 ( extremely low water conditions)

St-Jean
2000 = 781
2001 = 1148
2002 = 1200
2003 = 1404
2004 = 1370
2005 = 1200

These counts are never held on same date year / year. Depends on water levels etc...
I've seen fish come in mid October a few years ago.
Is there a pattern??? Wish I knew :Eyecrazy:

Ann, ... Wow, ... thanx for the numbers.

Ours have always been much less than yours, ... seems like you're catching "down" to us :(

Salmon closed here on the 15th, ... but the "blues" are putting up a good showing in the 1-2-3 zones.

Tough critters this year. Water rocketed up twice with the rain, ... we're getting to perfect conditions now.

Met a couple Guides from your neck of the woods too. Nice fellows.

Hey Malcolm, I guess that makes 1 of mine = 20 of yours. :lildevl:
