Trivia Question???

:confused: I have an old fiberglass flyrod with a logo of what looks like a castle (kind used in chess)from a side view and the outline of a fly (kinda like a spey fly) imposed on the castle. Anybody know the maker of this?

That would be Hardy's logo.

That is correct. Pescaphile, do you know what date Hardy adopted that logo? I don't remember seeing it on anything prior to the 80s but I could be totally wrong.

I located a cardboard box that a 3 5/8 Uniqua came in back in the late 50's and the Castle Fly was not used at that time. The Crown and 3 featherd Plumes of the HRH POW was there as well as the seal of HRH George the 5th. I have a number of reels from second hand sources that have the Castle Fly logo on the vinyl zippered reel cases some of which are older than the Uniqua that came in the carboard box I suspect that Hardy sold the cases as an individual item at some point because there are lots of them on older reels that are laying around in drawers and for sale on the net.
