I couldn't make the Boneclave this year so I took last week off to enjoy some hardtail hunting on my own. Fished with some great people, old friends and new. Here are a couple photos to get your juices flowing.

Awesome photos! Great to see the forum tradition riding as high as ever in your hosting Pete and son from Calgary. Sean you probably have a seat on a driftboat on the Bow or Elk if you ever get up that way.

Great shot of the captn' at the light

Hi Sean,

Great pictures, definately gets me going. Sorry you can't join us this year. Perhaps next year you can make it. Looks like you did just fine on your week off so you won't feel too bad about missing it. We'll miss ya.

Perhaps a Rhody clave in the near future at Burlingame. ;)

Tight Lines,
Greg.

Sean, it looks like you did okay during the rest of your vacation. Thanks again for letting me along for the ride with Pete and his son. It was a beautiful day.

That's a cool pic with the light in the back. Now I am completely useless.

How was the ride over and back? Did you go out of Barn?

Jim,

Yes we did launch out of Barn. It is about 14 miles exactly due south if you head straight across. Calm (1'-2') seas on Friday afternoon took me about 25mins to make the return trip. Sunday afternoon in a 2'-3'+ following sea took a little under an hour. Its open water so you have to pick your days and be willing to suffer through it if things kick up. I also wouldn't do it if I wasn't confident in the boats ability to handle some big swells as things off the point can get interesting. If you notice in that pick the camera is well above me yet we are on a 20' CC both standing flat on the deck. Pretty nice sized swell (4'-6'+) underneath us caused the angle.

Sean, I can't thank you enough for your gracious accomodation on the boat for Chris and me. Chris is still pumped about his first salt experience that he can't wait to start planning a return trip. The only thing we missed were the cow Bass but that only makes for anticipation of the return trip. Of course he does not fully understand that we could have been out there 3 days chasing Albies with very few hook ups!
You forgot to mention that Mark and me tangled lines that day. Well the fish did anyways, 3 overwraps of lines, 250 feet out, when the albies decided to go and visit one another, but we did prevail, unwrapped the lines with fish still on and landed both. What a memory to treasure with good buddies!

Had the same thing happen to me and a buddy on Friday off the point. Only he was spin fishing so the 12lb mono cut into the fly line and took a bit of the coating off the sinking head. Now I have a good pickup indicator! Water temps are still 65 degrees so hopefully we still have a ways to go before we close the books this season. You and Chris are welcome back anytime.
