I landed a few very small stripers yesterday while fishing the CT River between a pair of islands near East Haddam. They were between 4 and 5 inches in length, and upon further inspection I looked more closely into the water and saw hundreds of the little guys. I stopped fishing until I moved out of the area so I wouldn't cause them any undue harm.

These fish were too small to be of migrating age, so I see it as further proof that there is some reproduction going on in this river. It could also explain the higher than normal numbers of 8 to 12 inch fish caught at the mouth of the river by many anglers during May.

It was an interesting aside to an otherwise slow smallmouth bass fishing day.
