John is light on his feet despite things weighing heavy on his shoulders. A 51 degree surge of water came to Monomoy suddenly, driving the bait and fish elsewhere and the charter boats were getting blanked unless they moved north or west to find warm water.

As they say, even if the catching is not as spectacular is it has been in past rip trips - all other aspects were more than gratifying including an evening flurry of surface feeding fish that made Griz and I late getting back to the lighthouse where a feast lay waiting...
