One word describes the fishing, difficult. I got lucky and hooked one brown on a grey caddis the first day I fished. Second day and no one got any fish in the the pool that I was fishing. Checked with people who used guides and they had the same results. Fish were keyed in on small sulfurs but would not take. Saw some large Green Drakes go by untouched. Went to the East Branch and got one Brookie.
I'll be back the river has hooked me. FishHawk

When was this, I know the fishing has not been too good because of the temps and the flood this year but it is shocking that there are still Green Drakes.

Just got back , fished June 16,17,and 18th. The water is low but there are plenty of bugs. The fish will only hit the small stuff because of the fishing pressure. However, you must have a drag free float and everything must be righit on the money or you'll not have any hook-ups. This is why I like this river. You earn every fish you get. It's a good change of pace for larger flies and eager stripers.

5 years ago we got lucky on a sulfur hatch and hooked 47 brown trout!

I find that when matching the hatch gets tricky, I resort to the lowly cinnamon ant in #18-#22. Trout love'm....

It'd be great to get a group of people together and rent a drift boat (no guide) for a couple of days.

Bill,
That's something, I can't say I've ever seen a meal like a Green Drake go unmolested. Looking forward to seeing you up this way soon.
