Whistler Flyfishing and the Whistler Angling Club are proud to present THE WHISTLER OPEN FLYCASTING CONTEST taking place on Sunday June 19th . This event will feature both 5 WEIGHT Distance and SPEY DISTANCE events and is open to male and female casters of all ages and ability levels. Each event will have a PRO division as well as a RECREATIONAL CASTER division with two age categories. Sweet Prizes will be given for the top two finishers in each category. The contest will start around 11:00am, after the derby is finished and will include a BBQ.

REGISTRATION AND INFO: Whistler Flyfishing 1-888-822-3474 / 604-932-7221

LOCATION: Lakeside Park, Whistler BC (both events will cast over water from the dock)

EVENTS: 5 weight Distance and Spey Distance

5 WEIGHT DISTANCE - flycast #5 line for maximum distance
-use any marked #5 rod UP TO 91 length with a full head WF #5 line(no shooting heads)

SPEY DISTANCE - Distance cast with no change of direction
-use any rod up to #10 and up to 141 length, custom lines and shooting heads OK

DIVISIONS: Recreational Caster and PRO

COST: $10 per event entered (includes BBQ lunch)

RECREATIONAL CASTER CATEGORIES:Adult(19+) & Youth (18 and under)

WHO CAN ENTER: While any person may enter as a PRO, licensed guides, adult shop staff, FFF certified instructors, writers and TV fishing show personalities will automatically be entered in the PRO division. All other casters will compete in the RECREATIONAL CASTER division.

Very cool Brian - Wish I could get the flight to Whistler as my Father's Day present :)

I had not planned on it. This is family time and with the Skeena, Thompson and Snake coming up, I was going to give my wife a break. however, if you have some good leads.... :lildevl:

I do know a nice spot where you could try for some Chinooks and early run Pinks fresh from the ocean. Lots of Trout fishing as well.
