All the ones I've seen were moderately expensive. Anyone have a cheap suggestion?

Find a low rpm motor (6rpm) ni any hobby catalog and make one yourself to save a fwe bucks, otherwise the price at the flyshop is well worth it.

I use one made by a company called Stonefly. It cost me 26 (about $45).
I don't know how I coped before... It makes epoxy flies seem easy now. :smokin:

I made one from a motor I bought on eBay for around 9 dollars (It was a motor for one of those mirrored balls in clubs) attached a piece of pvc pipe to it and it doubles for both epoxy drier and rod wrapping drier.

Use a motor from an old microwave oven.

Check this; DIY Epoxy dryer (http://globalflyfisher.com/tiebetter/epoxy_rotor/)

Instead of a foam backing you could use a spring, mounted around the disc that rotates, holds (almost) every size hook perfectly in place.

Good luck!

After years of screwing around trying to turn them by hand, I finally bought one of these:

Came with a jig for turning it into a rod turner as well.

Well made, simple & not that expensive.

I pirated the (seldom used) motor from my gas grill rotisserie. It turns a bit slow, but gets the job done. Foam disk, scrap 3/8" square to chuch into the motor, misc hardware...total cost probably less than $5. Beats turning by hand.
