: York River Conditions
04-26-2005, 12:38 PM
Well, Mother Nature has been busy since Saturday evening....
The rain just stopped, so I hurried to take a few photos, because it's not over yet!!
Hmmmm ?? My No 2 flies will look ridiculous in these waters!!!
( Charlie, why don't you come over for the weekend Bring your flies!!! :hihi: )
It's hard to believe this is the same river I've seen in those magic photos that have lured me to the Gaspe'. I hope to return asap.
I hope this will get the black salmon back to sea express, so they can recharge and come back stronger each year.

Holly cow Ann! There is no place to stand even if I did come up. We could fish off of the bridge until a tree comes down and wipes it out.
05-02-2005, 08:58 PM
Sorry bud. No fishing from the bridge :tsk_tsk: :chuckle: . besides what are you going to do if you hooka fish ? Or a tree? :Eyecrazy:
See you soon, Ramsay
05-06-2005, 02:22 PM
Levels have dropped since last week...
05-28-2005, 10:02 AM
The York is ready and looking just excellent for the opening...
(Saw one fish this morning..... (waiting for the sun to see better)
That's simply gorgeous... I have to get back up there soon. :Eyecrazy:
05-28-2005, 02:14 PM
Boy...that is beautiful looking water! :)
05-29-2005, 04:58 PM
Well, I can officially say the fish are in....saw more fish today on the York.
(can't tell you all my secrets, though .:tsk_tsk: )

Nice pictures! How are the Dartmouth and St. John doing?
See you on Saturday.
05-31-2005, 09:12 AM
Fish are at the usually hot spot on the Dartmouth.......
It's high. but, I'm sure your "spey rod and flies" will do the work.
The St-Jean is just beautiful .... fish were seen too.
See ya at the hot-dog party!!

Thought I'd give you an update on the fishing here in Gaspe.
Dartmouth levels have dropped considerably and a few fish landed in Sector 2..
St-Jean, conditions are excellent, we landed a 20lb+ hen last evening....
York, A+ conditions, more are more fish are entering, they seem to be holding between Sectors 1-6. ( We landed a fish in sector 6 yesterday morning.
photo: Still Pool ( York 4) last evening.
oh!! There are still black salmon in the river ( saw one last evening heading straight down and in "5th gear"!!)

Hi Ann. Do you think the levels will hold until next weekend (the 10th). Would hate to think that Charlie and Brian would catch better water than us  ( so what else is new). I see that Charlie has allready picked up sectuer 4 in the 48 hr. for the 5th and Brian has a good alternate. Any way glad to see your guys are having success allready and will see you next week.

Hi Muckle Salmon,
Levels are dropping slowly, but I will try to hold them until you get here.. ...
(Hurry!!! Brian is sleeping on the job!! :hihi: )
See you on the weekend!!

Congratulations Charlie (Salmon and Steelhead flies - Moderator),

And I finally met Leo! He helped me land a fish on 6 that Tony was afraid of. He seems to be a good guide and his clients like him. Tell him I said hi.
P.S. some fish in the tail of Murdock.

I am bummed that I didn't get to chat with you more. I thought for sure we would run into you guys again. Ann was kind enough to invite us out to meet up with you guys but we fished hard that day and were wiped out. We had great fishing, my best trip to the Gaspe' for sure. I can't wait for next year. I hope you guys had a great trip as well.
Hi Ramsey, great to see you.
06-18-2005, 05:00 PM
Interesting information...........
( I will have to put a tracking device on your car next season.......)
( hope it works better than our cell service)
06-20-2005, 01:47 PM
Glad you did well. :smokin: We got some nice fish also, but I have had better years. I did get my first Bonaventure fish this year. Never fished the Bonaventure before so that was a bonus! Did you get any good pictures? Would love to see them.
06-20-2005, 09:25 PM
Hi guys, just got back in at 4:30 this morning. Got to go with Greg - one of my best years on the Gaspe'. Looks like no kill is finally starting to pay off on the St. Jean.
Greg, Sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up later in the week I would have loved to sit down and have a chat. Fishing does get in the way sometimes.
Charlie, looks like you were right bud - you guys left just a few days too early. About time I hit it right for a change.
Ann, will give you a call this week when I get settled back in.
A great time was had by all.
06-21-2005, 07:54 AM
Glad you did good brother. I got a call from Ray last week when I got back. He wanted to know how everyone did. He was not happy that he could not go. He will probably be unhappier when he finds out how good you did.
06-21-2005, 10:23 AM
The Bonaventure is still a favorite. Which zone(s) did you fish?
I will pm you a pic or two if I can figure out how to do it.
06-21-2005, 01:29 PM
We got the fish out of Luna pool. Baker had some fish in it also. I think it was in zone E4? Not real familiar with the Bonnie yet. It's a hell of a nice river.
06-22-2005, 12:28 PM
O man. B4 is one of the best beats. Luna and Baker are amazing pools. Were you fishing from a canoe with a guide?
06-22-2005, 08:18 PM
Thinking about a trip to Gaspe August or September--any recommendations as to the best time to fish -- will also have my wife there so the weather needs to be comfortable
06-23-2005, 10:39 AM
We did fish from a canoe with Mario Poiner. He is the head guide for Camp Boniventure and a good friend. Nobody knows the Boniventure like Mario. He is the best.
I will have to leave this one to Ann. She fishes in August and September quit a bit. I don't.
06-23-2005, 10:51 AM
Thanks, Charlie--I will book with Ann again--I enjoyed fishing with her guides last time--just trolling for opinions. Thanks for the reply.

Mario is the best! The Hawk can spot fish like nobody's business. Usually there is a lot of laughter coming from the boat when you are out with Mario. A lot of the laughter is from Mario cracking himself up. I have had some very fun and productive days on the water with Super Mario.
Did you get to cast Lulu or Lulu's little slutty sister?
Greg (aka The Chicken Hawk)
06-24-2005, 07:35 AM
I got to cast both. The reel seat on Lulu started falling off while I was playing a fish so we had to use her little slutty sister. Mario wouldn't even let me put my 2 handed rod in his boat.
06-24-2005, 08:55 AM
You got me worried there for a moment...
No doubt, he's the king of the Bona!!
( Can't wait to see him in Marlboro.to hear his side of the story... :D )
06-24-2005, 10:24 AM
I'm sure he has more than one good story. You know Mario!
