Can someone direct me to the recipe for a simram?

Thanks,
Leland.

Simram
Hook: Mustad 34007 or equivalent, #1-#4, upright in vice
Thread: Pink Fly Master Plus
Eyes: Medium (5/32) chrome lead eyes
Tail: 4 strands yellow Krystal Flash followed by golden tan Kraft Fur.
Body: Pearl glitter body (body braid).
Shell Back: 1 inch piece medium pearl Mylar piping, core removed.
Wing: 1 inch piece of tan, crosscut rabbit fur strip.

A local RI guide Johnny Glen helped devlop this fly is my understanding. I had a few of the Orvis versions which he said were way overdressed. I had some success with deep water fish this spring on them. The key is to trim the sides of the palmered rabbit for the wing. You can find a picture of one on the angleradventures.com web site.

Leland -

Heading to Xmas are we?

Here's some old FLytalk you might find interesting (using search function):

note: we seemed to be a little looser with the sponsorship policies back then, not to be taken as an example of commercial linking today of course.

Thanks for the help.

I can only wish I were going to Christmas Island. I'm tying some flies for a customer at the shop.

Leland.
