Southway enterance South Beach

Got out yesterday at lowtide to the enterance of the south tip of South Beach. It is all but done. All three buoys C-D-E were laying flat in about 2 inches of water. The whole enterance had maybe 6-12 inches in the deepest spot. When we arrived at the E buoy by where the seals haul on the North Monomoy flat, there were to young men in a 13ft whaler skiff stuck. They actually had to get out and walk the boat back to the drop to get the engine in enough water to run. Water was just over their ankles. Needless to say they had a cooold ride back in. We are working on a plan to try and get the county dredge in there to open it back up.
There is a push by the boating community because of the unsafe boating conditions facing novice and non professional mariners trying to go around Monomoy point or through the Chatham Break. I will post more on this later, if anyone is interested in helping us get this passed.

North and South Monomoy are very close to reconnecting at low tide. Small unpassable wash between the NM seal flat and that large flat making up from South Monomoy were I dropped you off last year in the fall only about 20 ft apart and not enough water to get the 18 Parker through yesterday.

The South Beach washover has healed itself. There is a pretty good ridge of sand on the ocean side holding the water back for now. It did leave a pretty good lump of sand on the flat by the K buoy, about 2-21/2 feet high. Nice place for the stripers to hide and have the bait washed over to them. Other than that the lay of the land is pretty much the same inside just a few more washover spots than last year. As your working the east face you will have easier opportunity to look over and see what is happening on the inside.

I am going to try and attach some pics from yesterday, hopefully they fit.

We're all just vistors...

What's old is new again...
Every Spring, the first few trips are recon eye openers...
By June we'll have the new topography some what figured out...
Steveo...Just stay close to Juro and you'll be just fine!

BTW...No salt water licence requirred...YET!
If you plan on fishing the ponds, that's another story.

Keith must be trying to fool us! :lildevl:
But I'm on to his tricks...
That buoy is being layed down by the dreaded stealth Monomoy rip current!

Pete,
If there's any quicksand about, one of our gang (Nemo) is sure to find it !! :chuckle: ......along with hidden rocks and sudden drop offs.....

We don't let him out alone !!

Rumour has it he's bringing a snorkel

Dave
Don't forget the shark pit. There was a great white spotting inside the refuge last summer...better add some chain mail to the snorkel get-up! :hihi:

Nemo in chain mail :whoa:

Imagine the Man from Atlantis, but made out of lead :lildevl:

If we attached a chain to his ankles and the other end to the RipRyder we could fashion our own channels.
